Let us get enthusiastic and geeky with you over a drink. For £249, we’ll bring a wine-tasting guru, a couple of nice bottles and one of our senior marketers and designers to spend two hours with you. In that time we’ll get to know you, your business and your objectives. We’ll show you examples of our work with other clients and discuss ideas we think might add value to your company.

A week later we’ll meet up with you again to give you a range of design ideas on refreshing your marketing communications. If you love the ideas and want us to progress them then we will give you your money back, if you hate the ideas then we’ll give you your money back and if you want to take the ideas and work on them yourself then that’s fine too. We have rolled out a design-led campaign to communicate the new brand values for Ricardo plc throughout the group and around the global employee network.

About Ricardo

Ricardo Plc are one of the world's leading engineering consultancies, and have been at the cutting edge of engineering technologies for over 80 years. Ricardo are famed for their work on automotive projects including the Bugatti Veyron, Mini Cooper S and JCB Dieselmax world land speed record. However, Ricardo have recently extended their expertise in a number of new sectors including the wave and renewable energy fields.

The Problem

Due to a rapidly changing business landscape for Ricardo it was decided that a new and more relevant set of company brand values were needed to help guide Ricardo employees through the change and new business opportunities. The old corporate values were becoming tired and were being overlooked as their relevancy faded in the changing environments.

The Solution

To reflect these recent shifts in direction for Ricardo, HM were asked to come up with a campaign to communicate the new set of brand values for Ricardo. Following a strategic review conducted by HM of the existing values and an employee survey to assess awareness, knowledge and application of the values we put together a campaign that would leap off of the walls and grab employee attention.

We took the Ricardo logo and created Brands for each of the core values made up of highly illustrative and evokative components. The new brand that HM designed clearly reflected the strategic change in direction that the Ricardo group of companies were taking, and we worked closely with senior management teams to define the graphical elements of the new values.

These values were then delivered to the business using a range of media, from banner ads on the intranet, large printed banners around the facilities globally, newsletters, screensavers and so forth. With the need to communicate the new values to Ricardo employees in over 15 offices throughout the world, techniques such as road show presentations, office display graphics, desk-top screen displays, email communication and intranet messaging have all been used to enthuse staff during a changing and unsettling economic climate.

"The key to success with this project has been to keep the message simple, but effective and communicate in a range of methods that are engaging rather than creating additional paperwork and memos." "In addition to the internal campaign we are also applying the new brand message to external marketing campaigns for the group with a new marketing strategy for the coming seasons."
