The client

EquiCirque is an exciting new event company formed to produce world-class equestrian shows and arena productions. EquiCirque’s mission is to transform the world of equestrian events by bringing internationally acclaimed performers together to create unique artistic collaborations and spectacular high octane events captivating the audience’s imagination, evoke their senses and transport them to a thrilling and magical world.

The brief

Design, develop and define a full social media strategy to build the EquiCirque brand and create a community within the UK as part of their ADRENALINE event ticket sales campaign.

The solution

Using a range of social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest, this campaign is extensive and still ongoing (until end of November 2012). We are fulfilling the entire social media campaign so that EquiCirque can focus on the production of their event – a complete hassle-free solution!

Facebook

Launched in February 2012, page likes at time of writing (Aug 2, 2012) have reached 2,750. To date we have 6 Facebook applications to promote the ADRENALINE event including information pages, data collection forms and a photo competition. HM are managing the content for the timeline up until the event in November, testing and monitoring a series of different methods of engagement early on in the campaign so that the most successful can be capitalised on.

Twitter

Designing and launching and creating a series of campaigns for Twitter to engage followers. At the early stages of the campaign we have been building a core community of followers, engaging them in conversation where possible. We are rolling out a series of competitions, promotions and viral campaigns that link with the general PR and promotion for the event.

YouTube

We created a trailer preview video with footage from the stars of the show. This is currently the main focus of the YouTube channel. As a launch event we don’t have any footage of previous events to help us here, so the next stage in this campaign will be developed with a unique viral video campaign. The rest of the channel is dedicated to featured playlists of video footage of the performers from around the world.

Pinterest

This event is not easily translated into words, so images speak volumes. We are developing Pinterest boards to demonstrate what the event is about and to spread the message to a community of horse-lovers.

VOS Ski & Snowboard Show 2011

VOS Media Ltd is one of the largest consumer events companies in the UK, producing market leading events including The Ski & Snowboard Show, The Outdoors Show, The London Bike Show, Vitality Show and Vitality Boutique.

The Brief

VOS had established social media profiles for their Ski & Snowboard Show, but wanted to take them to the next level, whilst promoting ticket sales for the 2011 show. We agreed that we would run an audit of their existing social media channels and put together a 6 week campaign for them to bring them more customers and to add value to their exhibitors.

The Solution

Redesigning social media profiles, creating a new social media strategy, rolling out a 6-week campaign - the central focus of which was developing their Facebook community.

Facebook: We redesigned their Facebook page with clear call to actions – highlighting the benefits of attending the show through a range of public and fan-only content. We then created a number of Facebook applications centred on core reasons that people attend the show. At all stages we encouraged fans to share content on their own pages. In total we created 10 Facebook applications as part of this campaign – here are two examples:

Special offer discount and competition page

This was an area where the organisers and exhibitors were able to offer special promotions. Fans were able to select the ones they wanted and complete a small form to download the voucher to take with them to the show and redeem at the appropriate stand. Exhibitors and fans really engaged in this application and we passed all data collected (with the permission of the people downloading the vouchers) on to the exhibitors who participated. The feedback from exhibitors was fantastic.

Top destinations resort poll

With this application we encouraged people to enter their favourite resorts and/or vote for them, with links through to specific show features. This campaign proved to be highly successful (10,569 views, 34 resort entries and 3,639 votes – over six weeks). This was a great campaign as we managed to get some of the exhibitors engaged in it, pushing it out to their networks in order to get votes. It’s worth also noting that there was no prize attached to this campaign, people engaged in it for just for fun!

The results (to date)

  • 3 times the number of facebook page likes from 1,200 to over 3,600 in just 6 weeks
  • £0 spent on facebook advertising, creating organic growth through a series of viral campaigns
  • Added value to exhibitors, sponsors and other key stakeholders
  • Increased ticket sales through social media routes
  • Increased competitive advantage (the British Ski & Snow Show in Birmingham which closely follows this event had over 3,000 less facebook fans, at the time of their show)
  • Over 350,000 post views throughout the 6-week campaign
